I shared in my last post that my husband and I retired from teaching and are currently living in a camper. We are slowing life down and focusing on our faith, our health, and enjoying our lives. Today, I’ll start with our “fun”…
The biggest spider I’ve ever seen in my life popped out of a bundle of firewood! I had been carrying that very bundle, so I narrowly missed having this monster crawling on me! Luckily, everyone in the campground is friendly and several of our neighbors helped to protect us from this creature. The picture below is the actual spider, and I didn’t zoom in! After the spider, we had to call for an emergency black water tank draining. Before this camping adventure, I had no idea what the difference is between a gray or black tank, but the black tank is code for “poop”… ugh. It’s very humbling to watch a tractor empty your toilet waste into a big tank for everyone around to see. That was today’s “fun”. 🙂

For fitness, we relaxed with two hydro massages at Planet Fitness and completed the 30-minute circuit training workout.

We also spent 4 hours chasing the grandkids! That was great exercise, but also FUN!

For faith, I listened to Joyce Meyer during my workout. She was talking about how we often feel this nagging dissatisfaction with our lives even though we are so blessed and know we should be totally content with our lives. She pointed out that this dissatisfaction comes from the fact that this Earth is not our home, and that we will never be truly or completely happy until we are in Heaven. It hit me that I keep talking about being “homeless” and selling our “home”, but in reality, we are all just living on this Earth temporarily. None of us lives in our true home right now. Our true home is in heaven with our Savior. Philippians 3:20 tells us that, “…our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ”. Hebrews 13:14 says, “For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” So, no matter where you live, keep your eyes on eternity, and remember that this life is temporary.
