As we travel around the country, we will be reviewing the campgrounds that we stay at. Here’s the first 3!
1. KOA Hocking Hills, Logan, Ohio
We stayed 2 nights here in April and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our site was a nice size with no one very close to us. The pool wasn’t open yet, but they do have a pool. My favorite thing was the campground was hilly, and when we looked out of our camper at night, we were overlooking a valley of twinkling lights that were absolutely beautiful. I tried to capture it behind our campfire, but the picture doesn’t do it justice!🤦♀️ The other great benefit of this campground is that the Hocking Hills area is amazing to visit, and this park is right in the heart of it.
We recommend this campground!

2. Gateway Campground, Hillsdale, Michigan
We stayed 2 weekends here- 4 nights total- in May for our daughter’s track meets. We really enjoyed this campground. The staff were very friendly. We had a nice site. Two things stand out about this park- golf cart rental and the ice cream shop. You could rent a golf cart and take it through the trails in the woods, to a lake, and around the campground. It was so much fun! They also had a very cute camp store complete with an ice cream shop. You could just charge everything to your site, so it was very convenient.
They have a pool, a playground, a jump pad, a train for kids, a food truck, and planned events.
We highly recommend this campground!

3. Covered Wagon Campground, Ottawa Lake, Michigan
We stayed 8 nights here in June, and we really enjoyed our time here! Their pull-through sites are very close together. When we first arrived, our site was squeezed between 2 other campers and across from the dump station. We moved to a back-in site which, once we were backed in, was very nice and peaceful. So I would recommend a back-in site.
The staff were VERY helpful and kind. They have a fishing pond, a swimming pond, 2 playgrounds, a mini golf course, and a very nice pool. They are in need of some updates, but it is clear that they are working on upgrading and improving the facilities. Overall, this is a quiet and peaceful retreat that we recommend!
