Wow! Day 3 didn’t disappoint. We tried boon-docking for the first time. We stayed for totally free in the Badlands with a million dollar view! We filled up our fresh water tank for $10 at the Sleepy Hollow Campground in Wall, gassed up the generator, and chose our spot. We were able to run our A/C with the generator. We weren’t sure if that was etiquette or not, but we did it. We took the dogs for the most scenic walk they’ve ever been on and watched the sunset. We woke up early, and watched the gorgeous sunrise too. It was absolutely perfect!

If you want to camp here, use the GPS coordinates: 43.88980° N, 102.22700° W. It’s not really marked, but you will see the other campers off in the distance. There was a police officer at the entrance. We talked to him to be sure it was safe, and he said that the police and rangers monitor the area all the time.

We did stop at Camping World in Sioux Falls on the way. They did have the battery cover we needed on clearance for only $9.91, but they didn’t have anything to fix our flying-open fridge or a cover for the electrical outlet, so we still have to work on fixing those.

We stopped at the County Fair grocery store in Mitchell to get healthy food. We ate skinny spicy shrimp sushi (delicious!- I actually ate almost all of them) and salads for lunch. They had great pre-made Cobb salads at County Fair. We had turkey sandwiches and chicken soup for dinner.

We will be driving the Badlands loop this morning before heading to the Rushmore View RV Park in Keystone for 3 nights. I’m looking forward to staying in one place for a little while. The set-up and take-down gets tiring!
