Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer: Chapters 2 & 3

My husband and I are reading and discussing this book on our roadtrip in our camper. We’d love to have others join us in reading it! It’s easy to grab it on Amazon. Be sure to read our previous post on chapter 1.

Here’s our take away from chapters 2 & 3…however…there’s so much in this book that you really need to read it in full yourself. Our thoughts on it just don’t do it justice!🤦‍♀️

Chapter 2 is called “A Vital Necessity”. It discusses how we scramble to make changes if our bank account is low, but when our thought life is out of line with God, we don’t act on it as a priority— but we should. The sentence that jumped out at us the most was, “You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind”. This does NOT mean that we just think good thoughts, and we get everything we want in life. It means that when we keep our thoughts in line with God’s Word, we will remain in His will, and our life will follow His best plan for us. It doesn’t mean everything will be easy, but it means we can enjoy our lives even in bad circumstances.

Chapter 3 is called, “Don’t Give Up!”. This chapter shows us that changing our thought life is very difficult. We may have formed bad habits over years and years of thinking negatively. However, we can’t give up on making changes. We CAN change inch by inch and moment by moment. We also have God to help us. He will help us every step of the way when we rely on Him and ask for His help. In Deuteronomy 1:6, God tells the Israelites, “You have dwelt long enough on this mountain”. Sometimes our thoughts get us stuck on the same mountain, but maybe it’s time to make the trek down the mountain and find the Promised Land that God has intended for you!
