Heavenly Views: Glacier National Park is STUNNING!

We spent day 14 exploring Glacier National Park in northern Montana, near Canada. We entered at the St. Mary’s East Entrance, and I’m so glad we did. The east side is the most beautiful. The park admission is $35 for 7 days for a carload or an annual pass to all national parks is $80.

The East side entrance runs across the park to the West Glacier entrance via the scenic and famous “Going-to-the-Sun Road”. The road takes about 2 hours to drive one way without stopping. It took us about 3.5 hours because we stopped a lot to take pictures and explore. On the drive, we saw mountains, cliffs, tunnels, mountain goats, snow, lakes, waterfalls, crystal clear streams, and the spectacular scenery we’ve ever seen. Again, the pictures don’t even come close to the beauty of seeing it in person.

St. Mary Lake near East Entrance

Be sure to get gas before getting to St. Mary’s. It was $1 more per gallon there than anywhere else at $4.59.

The town of West Glacier where we exited the park is very cute and filled with shops and cafes. There are also MANY white water rafting places in West Glacier. To enter the park from West Glacier, you need reservations which can be made online and cost $2. The East side does not require reservations to enter. Weird…🤷‍♀️

West Glacier

The park offers a free shuttle. We were afraid to take it wondering how often they stopped and where. However, we saw shuttles and stops everywhere, so I would recommend it. The drive includes narrow streets and twists and turns that make it difficult to enjoy when you’re driving (or nervously watching your husband drive it 😆).

The park also has tours in red busses called, “Red Jammers”. These are narrated tours and cost $79 a person for a half day. We saw tons of these too, and they looked fun.

Red Jammer

We bought some huckleberry products to try- huckleberry cream soda in honor of the “red jammers” and huckleberry jam. There were fresh huckleberries at the grocery store, and they were $26 a pound.

We have decided to head towards Bryce Canyon in Utah next. Some full-time RVers we met told us that was their favorite of all the national parks. We will stop in Idaho Falls, Idaho which is about half way. We are absolutely loving our journey right now, but we realize we can’t do this forever without coming home to see everyone. So, we have mapped a route to take us through the end of August, and then we’ll go from there.🤪

I can’t help but think that nothing on Earth can come close to the beauty of heaven, so seeing the beauty today makes my mind explode thinking of something that could be more beautiful than what we saw. The photographs only capture a fraction of the beauty just like Earth can only capture a fraction of Heaven’s beauty.

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him. —1 Corinthians 2:9
