On day 28, we got up, had coffee, packed up camp and drove and droveโฆand drove some more.
We drove through some very cute towns and some pretty scenery. We really wanted to explore some of these towns, but there wasnโt any easy RV parking. The closer we got to Texas, we started seeing only oil fields and ranches for miles and miles.
We stopped only for gas and to walk the dogs. At one of the gas stations, we bought some locally made pumpkin butter for only $3.
We drove from Alamogordo, New Mexico to Abilene, Texas. It took us just over 8 hours, and we lost an hour crossing a time zone. We left about 10:45 am and arrived about 8:00 pm with the local time. Abilene is about 3.5 hours from Waco, where weโre headed to see Chip and Joannaโs empire. We found a VERY basic RV park off of the I-20 highway for just $37 including tax for full hook-up.
We set up camp, had dinner, had our pumpkin butter on toast for dessert (delicious!) and were ready for bed. An epic roadtrip includes A LOT of (sometimes too many) roadsโฆ๐
