On Day 38, we left Biloxi, Mississippi and backtracked a little to New Orleans to pick up my sister-in-law at the airport. It was a 1 hour and 40 minute drive. We are staying at the New Orleans KOA, which is only 12 minutes from the airport, for $78 after our KOA membership discount. It is a very nice campground with brick paver fire pits, a pool, nice chairs provided at each site, and even garbage pick-up from your site.
We got set-up, ate lunch, and headed into New Orleans. The French Quarter was 28 minutes from the campground. Once there, we decided to purchase tickets on the Hop on Hop off Double Decker Bus. The tour is narrated with 19 stops, and you can get off and on at any of the stops. Tickets are $47 each, and we saved $3 on each ticket with our AARP card.
We were able to see so much of the city on the tour, and the narration was great.

You can still see the beads and trinkets thrown from the Mardi Gras floats caught in the trees. They hold 58 different parades in New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

The heat index was 112 degrees. We had some relief with a sudden and refreshing rain shower.
After we finished the tour, we went to the original Cafe du Monde. We had cafe au laits and beignets. We have been here twice before in the past, and we knew that we couldn’t go to New Orleans without a stop here again. They have very reasonable prices. A small cafe au lait is only $2.94. 3 beignets are just $3.85. We also bought the souvenir pack so we could make beignets when we get home with the family.😁

We really enjoyed the tour. If you’re in New Orleans, I would highly recommend it. We didn’t have any more time, but you can get a 2 day pass for just $5 more.
Another fun day, but we are very much looking forward to getting back home!😁
