New Year’s Casino Trip- Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan

,

We found Sault Ste Marie, Michigan to be a great place to visit for New Year’s. We plan to go back in the summer since most things were closed, but the town has a lot of character!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. We got the room on Priceline for $117 a night for a one bedroom suite. The 560 square foot room had 2 bathrooms, 2 TVS, a king bed, a sofa bed, a microwave, and a fridge! It also had a beautiful view. There were smaller rooms for even cheaper —which were great prices for December 30th and 31st. It also included free breakfast.

The hotel also has a nice pool and hot tub.

And it is pet friendly, so Zelda was able to come with us!

The hotel was minutes from the Kewadin Casino, and they offer a free shuttle to and from the casino. We didn’t use the shuttle. There was plenty of parking at the casino, and it was free.

You only have to be 18 to get into the casino, so it’s a perfect trip for families with young adults like us. They had a free concert from our favorite cover band, The Rock Show.

The food was cheap- $6 for these amazing pretzels!

We toured the city during the day seeing all the places we want to come back to- the Soo Locks, Museum Ship, Boat Tours, the historic home row, cute restaurants and more! We definitely want to bring the RV back to stay at one of the campgrounds on the water.

We ate at a highly recommended restaurant, The Wicked Sister. The food was excellent, but a little on the pricey side.

We definitely plan to go back this summer. Sault Ste Marie is only 5 hours and 5 minutes from our house in Toledo, Ohio.

You get to go over the Mackinac Bridge and be super close to Canada too!

Sault Ste Marie was a great New Year’s adventure for a great price and a great place to visit!
